The Story of IMD Entertainment

IMD Entertainment was founded by Jopper Ril and Dale Vincent Peter Davantes, two college friends united by a shared passion for music and storytelling. Their friendship sparked in a video and film production class, where they were paired as groupmates for a final project. Dale, with a deep devotion to filmmaking and dreams of becoming a director, handled the production side. Meanwhile, Jopper, who came from a family of professional singers and songwriters, brought the project to life through musical scoring.

As Jopper prepared to release his debut album as a professional singer, he faced a small but significant decision—what name to enter under "Record Label" for digital distribution. Not wanting to settle for a generic placeholder, he spontaneously came up with IMD Entertainment. At the time, the name had no special meaning—it simply filled the required field. But that name would soon mark the beginning of something greater.

After their final project, Jopper played his album for Dale, and the idea of launching an independent record label was born. They began crafting the IMD brand, but progress stalled with the onset of the pandemic.

During that time, Jopper’s cousin REU introduced him and Dale to eX, a hip-hop artist. The duo liked what they heard and decided to produce the track. Jopper led the recording alongside REU and eX, while Dale handled the publishing. On December 3, 2020, IMD Entertainment officially debuted with “Patungo” by eX feat. REU.

Just weeks later, they discovered Yunis Millicent (Eunice Barriga), whose song addressing police brutality moved them deeply. They released her track, “Patay Nang Patay (PNP),” on December 30, 2020.

From there, IMD expanded into alternative rock, producing Dahilan with the band ALTR, followed by Yunis Millicent’s emotionally charged Pantasya,” inspired by the Christine Dacera case.

Next came REU’s debut single, City Lights, which gained impressive traction on YouTube with over 100,000 views and an international audience spanning Thailand, Korea, and the Philippines. Unfortunately, a takedown resulted in the song’s removal and reset of its view count—a temporary setback.

Determined to keep moving forward, IMD created a fresh, modern spin on Jingle Bells,” performed by artist Chrian, as their holiday release.

One year later, they teamed up with the band Sturmfrei for Kahit Di Tayo,” and most recently released 3 AM,” a smooth R&B track by REU.

From humble beginnings in a college classroom to building a platform for bold new voices across genres, IMD Entertainment continues to champion authentic, independent music—one story, one song at a time.
